Pet Diagnostic Care

While the results of a physical exam help our doctors determine your pet’s health from the outside, South Shores Pet Clinic’s diagnostic care options help us examine your pet internally. We offer a number of safe, non-invasive diagnostic services, allowing our veterinarians to more effectively determine your pet’s condition and treat it accordingly.

Our diagnostic services include:

  • EKG (electrocardiogram): recording of electrical impulses that are generated when heart is beating
  • Abdominal ultrasound: imaging test that uses sound waves to examine abdominal organs
  • Cytology: microscopic examination of cells that have been collected from body tissues
  • Endoscopy: procedure that involves examining the body internally using an endoscope (small camera) that’s inserted through small incisions in the body
  • Digital radiography (X-rays): imaging test used to examine a pet’s internal structures to detect fractures, foreign bodies, and other conditions
  • Lab work (in-house): used to test blood and urine
  • Dermatology/allergy testing: can include skin scraping or blood test to determine the source of a pet’s allergy and/or skin condition
