Pet Dentistry

Did you know that more than half of all dogs and cats in the U.S. have some form of gum disease by the age of 3? The condition of your pet’s oral health is often an indicator of their overall health, but dental health is one of the most neglected areas of pet health care. In fact, if left untreated, gum disease can eventually affect the heart, liver, and kidneys. The good news is that it can be prevented with regular cleanings and exams.

South Shores Pet Clinic’s dental services are designed to combat the risk of gum disease and other dental problems in pets. Our dental services include:

  • Pre-dental examination
  • Pre-anesthetic blood work
  • Anesthesia (non-aesthetic dental scaling is also available)
  • Monitoring before, during, and after each dental procedure
  • Pain relief medication
  • Dental X-rays
  • Dental cleaning/scaling and polishing
  • Tooth extractions

After your pet’s dental treatment, we discuss our recommendations for at-home care, including tips on brushing and dental products. We carry a variety of dental care items in-house for purchase. Please view our Explanation of an Itemized Dental Treatment Plan document for more detailed information about what to expect during your pet’s dental cleaning. With exams and cleanings (annually or as often as needed), you can help keep your pet’s mouth healthy for a lifetime. To schedule your pet’s dental appointment, give us a call at (310)832-5327.
