Cee Cee, Head Technician
Cee Cee has been with South Shores Pet Clinic for over 23 years and has many capacities, including surgery, client relations, and assisting Dr. Steed and Dr. Weimer. She is very knowledgeable in veterinary medicine and has over 18 years working as an emergency technician at a 24-hour animal hospital with critical care patients. Along with her laughter and humor, she has brought many other assets to our practice.
Throughout the years, she has learned that a good leader listens and talks to the team to find the individual strengths of each team member. Cee Cee is known to be a fantastic leader and teaches her crew to have confidence in themselves. She is also known for her ability to remain calm and in a good mood, regardless of what emergencies or problems arise in the hospital.
Cee Cee has always had an affinity for animals and loves the rewards of helping patients recover and return to their families. Her own family continues to grow with her sweet little blue merle Chihuahua named Sully, her chocolate brown “foster fail” named Wazowski, her Maine Coon named Sid Vicious, her tabby cat named Twitches, and finally, her lovely bearded dragon, Hunter. She truly believes that “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawaken” and that a pet isn’t just part of the family; they ARE family.
Born and raised in San Pedro, Bruce has been with the practice since 2006 and has a particular interest in assisting doctors in surgery. He chose to become a veterinary technician because animals have always played an important role in his life. With over nine of years of experience at South Shores Pet Clinic, his favorite part of his position is meeting all the amazing clients and pets on a daily basis and being able to learn new thing. Bruce is the proud “pet dad” of a cat named Bagheera, which he adopted from SSPC, and a dog named Peanut. When he’s not working at the clinic, he loves working on computers, going on road trips, and spending time with friends.
Luis, Technician Assistant
Luis has been employed at South Shores Pet Clinic since 2012, but has been working with animals since 2002. Prior to joining our team, he served as an education volunteer at the Aquarium of the Pacific for eight years. For his years of dedication (which includes always showing up to volunteer, even after totaling his car on the way to the aquarium), he received special recognition and a gold star. He also received the President’s Volunteer Service award for his volunteer work.
He enjoys working with all animals, including the sea otters, octopuses, small sharks, and sting rays at the aquarium and the dogs and cats here at South Shores. In fact, he also has experience working at a doggy day care and with dog rescues in the Long Beach area. As a technician assistant, he loves the people he works with and being able to help animals.
Luis shares his home with Border Collie Aussie mix named Sydney and a bearded dragon named Mushu. He enjoys camping in his spare time because in nature, there are amazing views anywhere you look. He also enjoys going to the park and beach with his dog.
Danae, Technician Assistant/Kennel Attendant/Bather
Danae joined our team in June of 2015, pursuing her love for and desire to work with animals. She became CPR certified for animals in 2010 and loves the diversity that her position brings every day. She also loves playing with and caring for her canine patients. When she’s not at the clinic, Danae spends her time with family and friends.
Patrice has been a part of the South Shores Pet Clinic team since 2000. Her interests outside of the practice are her kids, grandkids, and Precious Moments collectibles. Patrice has an excellent way with our clients and their pets, and her knowledge of interacting with people is a great asset to the clinic.
Born and raised in Southern California, Dawn has been a member of our staff since August of 2014, after earning her Associate of Arts degree from Los Angeles Harbor College. She chose this career path because she has always enjoyed being around puppies and animals in general. She also loves that her position allows her to help clients and their pets. Dawn spends her free time with her husband, hiking, and kayaking. Although she loves working with dogs and cats, she also has a special interest in sea lions and dolphins, which led her to volunteer at Marine Mammal Care Center. She has served as a volunteer for almost 10 years.
Christina started working in the veterinary field in August of 1998 and returned recently in April of 2015. She is currently a student at Los Angeles Harbor College. Working as a receptionist here at South Shore Pet Clinic has given her many welcome opportunities, including witnessing puppy births, working with a great team of people, and working with animals in general. She loves meeting new patients and clients, even the challenging ones.
Brenda was born and raised in San Pedro and has a great love for all animals. In fact, she has never lived without a pet in her life. Her critter family consists of her precious Blue Merle Chihuahua son Sulley, Chihuahua grandson Wazowski, a lazy bearded dragon named Hunter, a Maine Coon cat named Sid Vicious, and a Tabby cat named Twitches. Brenda actually left South Shores Pet Clinic after nine years of employment to pursue a nursing career. She plans on applying to as many nursing schools as possible and is very excited for her new journey. Meanwhile, she decided to rejoin the team at SSPC recently.
Brenda has an affinity for animals and is truly grateful to be working in a profession where she is a key asset in helping pets live healthier, longer, satisfying, and happy lives with their families. Brenda has nothing but compassion, empathy, and with her bubbly personality, she says, "One of the best perks of the job is talking and building lasting relationships not only with the pets, but also the clients.”
Kristine joined our team in August of 2015 and has wanted to become a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. Growing up with her dog Sandy also made her realize that she wanted to help others out there who were struggling just like her. Her favorite part of being part of the South Shores team is learning the process of treatment for pets and meeting with different animal species. She has many pets of various species herself, including two pit bulls named Skully and Zeus; three Chihuahuas named Petey, Chiquita, and Brody; two turtles named Squirt and Leo; and an aquarium full of fish.
When she’s not working at the clinic, she loves spending quality time with her boyfriend, Frank, and her family. She also loves going on hiking trips with her pets, going to the doggy beach, riding ATVs at the sand dunes, playing instruments, and drawing.
Ledean Steybe has over 11 years of animal hospital experience in the South Bay area and can't imagine working in any other field because of her love and passion for animals. As one of our newest receptionists, she considers it an honor to work with such a great staff of hardworking and caring individuals. She also considers it a privilege to work with Dr. Steed and Dr. Weimer, who teach her every day the true meaning of what it means to have passion, dedication, and commitment towards helping all animals.
Fueled by her love for animals, Ledean has volunteered at the Carson Animal Shelter for several years and is currently helping with San Pedro Pet Pals pet adoptions, a non-profit organization in San Pedro. Another one of my passions, besides animals, is just the love of people and the friendships that she’s made with many clients throughout the years.
Unsurprisingly, Ledean shares her home with many of her own pets. They include Becker, a handicapped Terrier mix rescue from the Downey Animal Shelter, and Lexie, a Boxer/pit bull mix from Noah's Bark Pet Rescue. Lexie was found running and starving in the streets in South Los Angeles, pregnant with five puppies. Now, she and Becker are truly the loves of Ledean’s life!
Janine joined the South Shores Pet Clinic team in August of 2015. As one of our receptionists, she loves working with a team of great people and being able to work with animals. She also enjoys providing great customer service to clients. Janine is the proud mouther of a daughter named Lucy as well as her fur baby, a poodle/terrier mix dog named Fluffy. When she’s not at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, family, friends, and dog. She also loves Disneyland and watching “I Love Lucy.”
Chris joined the South Shores Pet Clinic team in 2003 as a certified groomer through 4 Dogs Grooming Academy. He is skilled at both right- and left-hand clipper use. With his 10+ years of experience as a groomer/bather, he has developed a knack for being able to bath “unbatheable” cats. Although he’s not involved in the medical aspect of the clinic, he loves seeing so many animals get saved and made well. Chris loves the satisfaction of a job well done and enjoys working with pets. His own cats are Star and Moe.
